CENOZO AND FINANCE UNCOVERED SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING TO COMBAT FINANCIAL CRIME IN WEST AFRICA
Gothenburg, 22 September 2023 : The Norbert Zongo Unit for Investigative Journalism in West Africa (CENOZO) and Finance Uncovered signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday 21 September 2023, on the sidelines of the 13th Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden, to collaborate in strengthening journalistic investigation of financial crimes in West Africa.
CENOZO and Finance Uncovered recognise the importance of working together to promote financial transparency, combat money laundering and strengthen the skills of journalists in analysing the financial documents of companies and public institutions.
The collaboration between the two organisations aims to promote financial transparency, strengthen the skills of CENOZO journalists in researching and analysing the financial documents of companies and public institutions, encourage the optimal use of financial information obtained through investigations, and promote the dissemination of transnational investigations conducted within the framework of the partnership.
Created in 2015, CENOZO’s mission is to promote quality and impact journalism in West Africa through capacity building for investigative journalists, conducting and publishing investigations, supporting journalists at risk, networking and advocacy.
Founded in 2012, Finance Uncovered has trained more than a thousand journalists and activists and contributed to 150 hard-hitting investigations, including the GuptaLeaks, DubaiLeaks, LuandaLeaks and the Pandora Papers. Through its work, Finance Uncovered enables journalists and activists to investigate all kinds of issues – not just corruption and economic affairs, but also human rights, labour law, public procurement and climate change.
